In the dark hours of the morning, my husband told me to get dressed as he shook me out of the bed. ”We have a problem”, he said. Apparently, our handy man, yes the one many of you have already heard about, had been up to his tricks again. While using the outlet in the basement for his saw, he unplugged the sump-pump. Surprises, surprise, we now have an indoor pool! Here is the list of things that he has broken so far…. he has let the basement flood, he broke our hatch that we fixed last year, he cut electrical wires, he concreted over our oil vent, he removed our water spigot outside and now we can’t find it, he put some 3 inch nails through my dining room wallpaper and the list goes on. With this just being the tip of the iceberg, it also took him a month to fix the crooked siding he put up and my house seems that it has permanently become the home of white trash residents with his building crap all over my lawn for 6 months now. My friends laughed for more than a month as they walked up to the house, heads cocked sideways wondering if I noticed the same cock-eyed debacle as they did. We have already paid the guy for finishing one side of the house, so I can’t fire his ass until he finishes what he has been contracted to do. So how do I keep smiling, you wonder? I feel much like the guy in this picture on this wet and dreary Monday morning. As I possess this crazed angered look, at the same time I have a goofy monkey smile on top of my head. My life is full of chaos. I try to balance the endless hours of many volunteer jobs, my photography, my family and the goober that keeps trying to destroy my house as he “fixes” it. So, I try to find some compassion even if I feel anger at my worker bee, knowing that deep down he has a good soul. I try to realize that we are all not perfect. I try to realize that these problems will get fixed, regardless of the current despair I feel. I also know that the best medicine for anything is laughter and laugh I did at my seeing Chris trying to wear my cute little Wellies this morning. I hope it all gets better soon, but for now, I’ll go down to the basement and take a dip in the pool.

Aw, Jen. I always said you had a great property for a pool.
